Are you a fan of a horror genre? It is very popular in movies but rare when we are talking video games. Friday the 13th: The Game combines the best of two worlds: this is the gaming title based on the eponymous movie plot. If you are ready to meet the protagonist Jason Voorhees, then you can download Friday the 13th: The Game and dive into the depths of horror. Want to know more about how to deal with Jason and Camp Counselors, read our Friday the 13th: The Game review.

Graphics — 4.5/5

Recreation of the atmosphere of the 1980’s horrors was the main intention of the game developers. All the visuals and soundtracks are performed correspondingly - to make you tremble of fear and faster immerse into the needed mood.

The graphics are somewhat decent and detailed. The environment and characters are well-drawn so to pretend for the level of the AAA-class project. Gloomy and scary feelings are achieved thanks to the visuals, first and foremost. Welcome to the atmosphere of fear and desolation.

Gameplay — 4.5/5

Friday the 13th: The Game belongs to a rare genre — horror with an asymmetric multiplayer. The plot is based on the eponymous movie so you will meet here well-known characters from Friday the 13th and will immerse into the horror atmosphere.

All the events are taking place in the camp "Crystal Lake" with seven people living there and the maniac hiding in the wilds. You can decide whether to choose Jason or the camp counselors team to play for. Jason senses the victim’s position and can teleport across the game map. The counselors can escape from the clutches of Jason thanks to the opportunity to play in the team.

So in each match, a team of players stands against a single maniac, who is also controlled by a live person. The victims have a little time to hide, and the maniac is hiding somewhere at the bushes and then goes hunting. When the victim is caught by Jason, a brutal execution occurs.

Jason needs to kill as many victims as possible. The remaining players control advisors in the camp. The goal of the game on the camp team side is to fill missions which are easier to fill out when coordinating with other players.

Controls — 4.5/5

The controls of Friday the 13th: The Game are intuitive and pretty simple. If you play for the team, run to escape from the brutal Jason. If you play for Jason, track your victims and kill them as soon as possible.

You can find detailed instructions regarding the controls in the game menu. We can help you with some for the Xbox right now. Tap X to use small item, Y — to use ability, B — to crouch or hold breath, A - to interact or break free. Discover yourself all the others, we hope you will master them fast to succeed in your mission (whether hiding or killing).

Replay Value — 4/5

If you are a fan of the eponymous movie and horror genre as well, you will probably replay Friday the 13th: The Game from time to time. The replay value enhances with the opportunity to play both Jason and the counselors. So it’s only you to decide whom to play today: a bloody maniac or a victim trying to survive.

Friday the 13th: The Game is a multiplayer game, so you can share this horror experience with friends and get much more fun thus.

The Bottom Line

Friday the 13th: The Game has an interesting plot though the game is poorly implemented. It is noticeable aspects of its design and the poorness of content.

From time to time the game will tickle your nerves, but most of the time the gameplay boils down to monotonous actions. Anyway, if you are the horror movies fan, download Friday the 13th: The Game and enjoy this particular eerie atmosphere.

Conclusion

If you want to try yourself in the rare horror asymmetric genre, take a look at Friday the 13th: The Game. But if you expect the AAA-class project to get with this title, don’t delude yourself.
