Currently, the video gaming industry has a plethora of dance games that promise to offer an incredible gaming experience regardless of whether you’re a passionate dancer or not. Just Dance 4 is one of these games.

Graphics: 3.5

Regarding the game visuals, there isn’t anything new to this game compared to its predecessors. While the graphics quality isn’t terrible, I don’t find them very interesting or captivating to behold. Those who have had the opportunity to follow the series can attest to the fact that not much has changed throughout the years. Generally, the franchise isn’t famous for the present value, but the visuals get the job done.

Gameplay: 4.0

If you’re a fan of dance games, then you’ll find this to be more fun and straightforward, and you’ll easily dive right into the gameplay. You can pick from two modes: Sweat and Just Dance. The first mode is basically a dance workout mode, and you can set the timer and dance to songs randomly. Depending on how you perform in one song, the game will either make the next song more intense or cool you down.

The second mode, on the other hand, is where you get to find the bulk of the game. Here, you and a maximum of three others can dance to a set of catchy tunes. Mimicking the on-screen moves isn’t as difficult as it may sound, and you’ll get perfects right and left even if you can’t dance for the life of you. This game may not provide any dancing challenge, and it primarily involves getting loose and having a good time with friends.

Controls: 4.0

The Just Dance 4 controls are quite intuitive and straightforward, and you’ll easily navigate the game even if you’re a first-timer. With your motion controller that is necessary for you to play, all you need to do is mimic the characters moves on the screen. This can be a lot of fun, more so if you’ve got a full house. At times, the controller doesn’t read your moves correctly, but that’s to be expected considering how messy dancing sessions with friends can get.

Replay Value: 4.5

The game’s replay value is in the fact that you get better over time. Assuming you perform well in the workouts and give it your all for a specified duration (usually a minimum of 30 minutes each day), you’ll further get to enjoy more intense cardio workouts which surpass the most notable ‘pure workout titles’ available. The game strikes a balance between exercise, replay value, and fun.

Those who have been fans of the game series will find Just Dance 4 interesting mainly as an expansion pack for the previous titles. So you don’t have any reason to jump into this game series from here. Notably, there’s some good news: the game basics (which include its four-player functionality, over-the-top style, and track diversity) have improved. However, most of the features that could be enhanced remain unfixed. These include the crummy menus, imprecise motion tracking, and unhelpful game cards.

The game may not contain many improvements and much-enhanced features, but those who have followed the series will find it incredible.
